Gero Onsen in Gifu Prefecture is considered one of the three best onsen hot spring resorts (San-meisen) in Japan. Mutsumikan is a ryokan located in Gero Onsen and renowned for good onsen water and delicious food. Gero Onsen is considered one of the three best onsen in Japan, along with Kusatsu Onsen (Gunma) and Arima Onsen (Hyogo). It features an abundant amount of water and a good moisturizing effect of the water from its nature as an alkaline simple hot springs. Because of this effectiveness, it is called "water of beauty." Many hotels and ryokans line the sides of the Hida River, which flows in the center of the town, and with the river they make an attractive atmosphere of a hot spring town redolent with the pungent aroma of hot spring water.

We are at only a two minute-walk from JR Gero Station. It takes 90 minutes from Nagoya to Gero by Limited Express Wide-View train. It takes 40 minutes from Gero to Takayama and is convenient for sightseeing.
